In re: LiveJournal Ads

I myself am not too familar with livejournal, which is essentially a blogging interface for creating journal-esq blogs, although when they started it I am not sure they called them blogs. Anyway, it was eventually bought by Six Apart, a blogging software/provider company that makes a number of blogging related services including moveable type and typepad (see history of Six Apart here). Live journal seems to have a strong community of followers/users who have enjoyed the ad free service, but it would seem envetiable that they would need some sort of revenue from the free accounts. (they had a paid service as well that gave more benefits) The complaint that some people have is that they aren't doing some kind of ad revenue sharing that bloggers use of adwords from google allows. See story on it here on O'Reilly Radar
